ok, first off I love this site, so much info; I have been using the search function so much I haven't had to post a question until now :)

so for my first post my question is: Where can I get 7.62x39 hunting rounds? I have been looking everywhere and no one has them :( I wanted to fill my deer tag in with that calibre this year (new gun) and had to use my good old norc m14 to do the job (not that I mind but I was sort of looking forward to using my new gun)

Anyway the last store I asked at the guy said that he was no longer able to import them from his supplier in the states, he didn't know if it was USA problem with export or a Canadian import hassle. He said the only place I could get rounds was from Europe?!? I know I can can get milsurp from there but hunting rounds? So what is up? Is it because I live in BC or something?

post script: and please no replies that I should take a road trip south or re-load my own, or stick to .308 :p

things military in Calgary carries igman ammo. I,m using it to get the brass for reloading. its not the most accurate ammo but it will do the job. he has a web site you can check out

cheers

Norinco, Sellier & Bellot, Fiocchi and Ingman all make soft point ammunition that comes from europe or Asia.

look at districorp.ca for the ingman ammo.

Russells for the norinco

There is a thread in the ammo section on this. Apparently the yanks aren't letting 7.62x39 out. My federal supply has dried up.

I doubt this as the USA is not the main source of 7.62x39 hunting (or FMJ) ammo in Canada. Instead direct your questions to the Canadian suppliers of this cartridge.

Also consider getting some Lee dies and reloading.

I thought that it would be a US export problem, I knew federal and winchester had rounds in that calibre. So ingman is so-so for quality? What is better then?
Also I am in BC (lower mainland), it would be great if there was a local store I could go to before I order off of the internet, I like the personal interaction :)
