these cartridge shaped gadgets are made cheap and fail pretty regularly. Don't buy one, buy three so you have one working when you need it. Great in theory, lousy in actual use. Same goes for the red shotgun shell version.
I prefer this magnetic one made by sightmark, at least as accurate as the chamber things, and more reliable:

The red is not very visble outdoors (i.e. forget it at 25 yards in sunlight). If you're not careful at the range, you can forget about it and shoot it off the gun.

Next choice is the wheeler professional laser bore sighter for around $125.00
Spend a little more, be a lot happier.
