I am quickly running out of RL 7 and I am wondering what other powders other people have used and with what results. My results with RL 7 in my CZ 600 are very impressive and would like to know if there is another powder that comes close or maybe even better when reloading for 7.62x39. I don't need specific loads, just point me to a powder that worked well for you or point me away from what did not work well.

I use H4198 with 123grSP Privi brass mag primer !/2" groups at 100 yards out of a CZ 527 carbine. 25gr + 25.5gr shot the same. 3.5gr of Bullseye and a 71gr .32 ACP FMJ is a nice chicken load. Work up your loads accordingly.

I haven't loaded any myself yet, but after hearing lots of good things about CFE BLK that's what I bought and plan to use

I use three different powders.

RL7 was the best, for accuracy and consistent velocity.

CFE/BLK was good with both 130 and 150 grain bullets.

AA680 or W680 was good with both 130 and 150 grain bullets.

8208xbr worked very well with 150 grain bullets as well.

CFEBLK is fantastic in 7.62x39. 123 grain soft points and a good dose of the CFE and the velocities are very good and they also shoot very accurately out of my CZ527.

CFE-BLK and SSTs

28.5gn at 2.23” COL is running right around 2450fps and giving me sub-MOA accuracy. Not too shabby for that little pudgy round :)

Should mention, this is from a 16” barreled Gen 2 Ruger American Ranch in an MDT ESS chassis.

335 is probably the best ball that fills the case.
I'm using WC735 an old Higginson surplus that was $7/lb and close to 335, it's as accurate as anything else I load.
