7.62x39 Powder

Thanks to all for pushing the cfe-black.
I decided it was time to get a couple pounds. Will roll some up this weekend. $80/lb. not bad at all.

Hey Joel.
I havent used them on game yet.
Took my 243 this year.
When I was testing them this summer, they made a noticeably louder sound on a gong than a 170 from a 30-30 at 50m. Another shooter came over to ask what I was using. He was shocked to hear 7.62x39. He figured much larger caliber.
It may just be a softer bullet transferring all its energy instead of deflecting off the gong, but I expect a very hard hit on an animal too. How far it penetrates will be interesting. I'm quite confident in it doing well as I'm not going to try shoulder shots.
28.5gr cfe-blk w lapua/cci lr gave me exactly 2400ft/sec ave from 527 carbine.
I may try and push it a bit harder but not sure there's much more to be gained.

Cool! Lookin forward to hearing what happens with shots on game no matter what you use!

Will be trying loads with 123gr Barnes TSX, 110gr Hornady CX and 120gr Barnes Tac-Tx with CFE BLK and N120 when the weather gets better.

123 barnes have been crazy accurate out of my 527. Only hit 2305ft/sec so far but more testing to do.
I may have a chance at wild boar next year.
If distances aren't too far I'm going to take the cz and the barnes 123.
I'll keep the ppu for deer.
 
I bought 40 lbs of D4198 from Canada Ammo back then. That powder is as good as anything in x39, in all weights. Still have 3 unopened jugs left.
