Could someone please tell me whether this corrosive or non-corrosive? It was sold to me stating its non-corrosive. Came in a green wooden crate. Any help would be appreciated.

Some say yes, some say no. I have shot a few hundred rounds out of a similar crate that was said to be non-corrosive, and I do not think it is corrosive. However, many people say if in doubt, treat it as corrosive.

Where did you buy it?

From Things Military of calgary. Capt. Bill seemed like a genuine person and I don't see any reason of him lying to sell the ammo for $100 more but to be honest with you... i don't know who to trust these days with these non-corrsive ammos.

I had the same stamped crate from lever, 30-72-31 and it's sometime corrosive. i had probably 400 or so rounds that were non corrosive, no rust, didn't get around to cleaning it for a while, no problems. then the last few hundreds rounds from the first spam can rusted anything it went through, so even doing the nail test won't tell you for sure. There is some corrosive that is mixed in, so except for testing every single round there's no way to be sure.

Occasionally, be sure to check every few days it if you're not going to clean it right, i now have a pitted gas tube, piston and gas port because i took it at face value, not a lesson i want to repeat.

Sounds like the possibility of getting hit by an ambulance is more higher than trying to find out what is corrosive and not!! When i walk in to a store, i don't plan on getting scammed by the store owner!!!

My yellow box ammo was purchased in a private sale years ago. The silver box stuff I have was the same as CanAm had about a year ago. It seems the supply has dried up now.
