x1I understand your reasoning. You can't hunt with steel jacket bullets legally, and 7.62 x 39 soft points are not easily available. I have pulled the bullets from the steel jacketed ammo succesfully, and replaced them with soft points, no problem. I was carefull when crimping, because of the laquer coating, just a very light crimp. Soft point bullets cost as much per round as the whole loaded 7.62 x 39 military rounds, so youv'e doubled the cost per round, but it's still cheaper than buying factory ammo per round. The only setback is they can't be reloaded, but they are so cheap, who cares?
Use the RCBS/Lyman plastic hammer bullet puller or push the bullet down in the case first to break the seal then pull using the RCBS collet puller. They're steel-cased, berdan-primed and factory crimped. I've never been able to even pull a bullet from these cases.

Sorry to correct you mkrainc, but 7.62X39 Soft Point bullets are easily available. I have them in stock and usually ship the next day.
