7.62x39 reloading

who reloads 7.62x39 for their SKS? What brass do you use? What is the primer pocket size?

Any brass, I doin't care about consistency with the SKS. 1/4 moa bought by good brass is offset by the +/- 4 MOA accuracy margin of the SKS.

I like RL-7 as a powder, it seems about ideal for the 123-5 grains bullet weights typically used.

I use Lapua brass as I load it for my CZ527 as well. A yugo is more like 2moa or less, so the brass isn't going to waste. My favorite powder for the 7.62x39 is H4895, primer pocket is Large Rifle on the Lapua brass.

I use AA 1680 powder, Hornady bullets with a cannelure, for crimping.

I reload occassionally for 7.62x39mm. The brass I use is headstamped K-P and has large primer pockets.

I don't think the make of brass is important because case life tends to be short, the SKS really beats up brass. I'm just using H335 powder, maybe not the best choice but throws well from a powder measure and I got a lot of it cheap from Higginson Powder. The best bullets by far that I've found for the SKS are the Lapua 123 gr .311 diameter, but they're hard to find. Any time I see any at a gun show I buy them.
