7.62x39 steel core on AR500?

I have no problems with my gong, but the steel core milsurp ammo I use sometimes makes a spark when it hits. Looks cool actually and no damage to the gong.

Norinco 223 at 100 yards beats up my ar500 targets more than 7.62x39

Small diamater + velocity is the steel killer.
