they dont think of their own consequences. they feel they are the authority on guns and their uses and must guide the sheep to conform with their vision of gun ownership. they always feel one more rule is little to ask, no matter how many previous rules theyve dreamed up in their office. the problem is further cluttered when people try to do the same thing on their own (making more rules) either protest it or take your non-restricteds to the bush.

They will enforce the regulation/statute/BS rule by closing the range.
Not a real big deal if all you shoot is non-restricted, but a huge deal is you have any 'fun' guns......
Myself, I just don't shoot FMJ at ranges where they as me not to....... It is a stooopid rule, but I have had a first hand experiance dealing with a CFO who wanted to close down a range and if I can save someone else that trouble by not shooting FMJ I will do so!
Personally I like having a place to go where I;
Know the distances to my target.
Know what is behind what I am shooting at.
Have a nice comfy & level bench to shoot from.
Have a nice clean place I can sit or lay prone on.
Can shoot .22lr, black powder, centrefire rifle and pistols all in the same visit.
I don't think its too much to be asked adhere to the rules and regulations the CFO has placed on your local range. Especially when it is that or range closure.

I am quite sure there is more to this story. Has anyone actually seen a document from the CFO outlining the restriction? Anyone ever heard the rationale? And no the CFOs don't go around pricing out various cartridges so that they can be prohibited from use because they are cheap.

As I stated earlier in this thread.
I am a member of 5 different ranges. Only ONE has permission from the CFO (Saskatchewan CFO) to allow the use of FMJ/steelcore projectiles.
There are only 2 ranges (that civilians can use) close to Regina that are 25y+ AFAIK.
One is the Condie range which is run by the Regina Fish and Game league. The other is the Wildlife Federation Range.
Both ranges were closed down by the CFO in the last 12 mo untill fairly substanial changes were made (or agreed to be made) to the back stops, firing lines etc. of both ranges. The stated changes have resulted in an increase of range fees of over 40% at the Condie range.
I believe we are lucky in Nova Scotia ,from what my local dealer tells me,( I am just getting back into the sport after 25 years) we are controlled by rcmp because we don't have provincial police ,so the only rules rcmp can go by are the fed rules ,for the most part,although they keep a close eye on the ranges,from what I hear they don't make up stupid rules just to torment the gun owners!
