7,62x39 who has the best deals now

The last time I phoned Wolverine for a quote on a crate of surplus it was a $40 shipping fee vs. the $80 the website calculated to Vancouver.

you only buy one at a time???

Well, ahem, yes I do. Although I can see now that is a noob kind of move (and here I thought I was being hard-core, buying ammo by the case).

As a kid, I had to buy my own ammo and never had more than a box or two at a time (no wonder I'm not a good shot)

Cabelas will have some Chinese stuff on sale for Boxing Day. 1500 for $249 if the old noodle is retaining info correctly

What is the difference between this and the cases wholesale sports are pedalling? $270.00 for 1400 rnds. Is wholesale sports non corrosive, or better? Is wholesale's perhaps lead core vs steel?

I bought a case today from wss, price with tax came to $255 (reg price 269 -10% +5% gST) It's Russian made, no idea if corrosive or not ( don't really care). No idea lead or steel core, I'm at work and didn't open up the case to check, but I'm assuming it's steel core.

Ipicked up a crate of this stuff today at the calgary location. Went to the register and the cashier gave me a in store $20 off coupon, Tax in it was 241.49.
Not a bad deal for this ammo

Shipping kills most of the good buys out there. 260 a case is still a good buy, I've made a deal for 5 crates at $999 local pick up, not in B.C. Cabela's still has the corrosive for 250 if you have one near you. Since Bass Pro bought them out, handguns and surplus ammo are in question - Bass Pro won't sell either.

I got 5 crates of Russian corrosive copper washed from doctordeals in Moncton NB if anyone is in the area. Best deal I could find, they'll quote you shipping I think, but wont be cheap. They have about 18 crates left.

Anyone know where is the best deal for 39 with BRASS cases and ball ammo? Looked a few places and dont feel like spending over $1/shot. I could also buy empty brass, but i prefer to buy them pre-loaded first.

As a handloader, I have tried the reloading route with 7.62 x 39 for hunting rounds but the cost just doesn't make sense. As per the posts above the surplus is under 20 cents per round. the cheapest bullets I can buy are $30 per hundred (in the past) plus powder, primers, time, etc. I plan to try a cast bullet in the sks eventually but will do so when the cheap ammo runs dry.

Hmm, well i dont mind buying something like non corrosive tulammo with steel cases, but i dont really wanna run steel bullets or bimetal, seems thats all i can find anywhere. I kinda want some barrel life and brass to reload.

Marstar has 1440 rounds of chinese surplus for $259 w/free shipping or 1320 rounds of Bulgarian surplus for $265 w/free shipping
Not anymore, they drove their prices up too! Won't be long before the SKS is driven out of the cheap fun category. Rifles are going up and ammo is too! Gettin close to more accurate no corrosive rounds/rifles!

Now budget went to $255 for 1200 rounds, before Christmas it was $225 then just after. The holidays it was $245, now $255. Everyone is jumping on the band wagon!! With the cost of reloading .223 and even .308 it is starting to get close!

Ok, so I emailed western metal and they said their 7.62x39 romainian surplus is non magnetic FMJ Ball ammo and is non corrosive... For 1320rds@$300. Bossman says its so, but I find it hard to believe? Anyone verify this? Is there anyway to verify if it is actually non corrosive?

I have not seen any surplus around thats not either steel core or bimetal...i think he is mistaken.

Have to test the primers.
