7.62x39mm AIA Enfield

I have not had any problems with different AK Mags in mine, looks kinda weird with the full mag in it though.

Has anyone else had any problems wiht extraction? I am using the Chec surplus and maybe 2 in 10 extract properly,, anybody else experiance this?

I made a repro cheek piece out of maple. Used the real thing as a template. Works great. In fact I use it on my real No4Mk1T so I don't chew the issued wood up. I replaced the entire wood assembly on my sniper for use in the field and yes, I take it hunting from time to time. A rifle ain't no good unless you use it.

I will be making the repro cheek pieces from an original H&H cheek piece my friend let me have to duplicate with, I am just in the beggining stage of getting all my machinery set up, as I have to rearrange the shop to fit it all till I can put on my extension on the garage this summer!

I would like some feed back on what material walnut, beechwood, laminated birch, what do you guys want?
I am not taking order right now, but I will inform everyone when they are ready , I will be making batches in (walnut)100 at a time, and will do micro batches if the need arrises in (laminate, beech 50 or less)

Cheek piece?

I tried mine today with a scope similar in height to the photos from Navy Shooter. It wasn't a chin-weld, but rather point-of-chin-weld. I will have to either try a different scope, find lower mounts or get a cheek piece for the stock.

Just for fun, I compared it with a 1944 jungle carbine. At 7 pounds, the JC has a lot more recoil than the 7.62x39 AIA which weighs 11 pounds with scope. The JC handles quicker and would be an awesome gun in 7.62x39.

I think that's what I thought I'd be getting with the AIA, but didn't factor in the more massive steel components and the very pretty teak wood. Maybe Tapco will come out with a light plastic stock! Just my 2 cents.
