The only hunting ammuntion I have ever been able to find for my SKS for whitetail hunting is the Prvi Partizan ---PSP 123gr in the Blue and White box.

I know Remington, Winchester, and Wolf, that I know of make different types of hunting ammuntion in 7.62x39mm, however I cant find ANYWERE around here that has it. Does anyone else know of any stores around that sell it?

I live in southwestern Ontario ( Kitchener area ), but I would be willing to buy a few boxes and have it shipped if I could find some remington ammunition or some other good quality ammo.

what's the matter? mill-surp don't kill animals in Ontario?

**** Read this in the voice of Samuel L Jackson -> " I am not a hunter and claim no hunting experience. If I sound like an ass, it must be the acoustics in here." :)

We stock S&B 7.62x39 soft point and PRVI soft point. Both have killed lots of deer around here.

You had better have another look at the specifically named townships, and calibre restriction in the reg's.

And that reg only applies to small game. ;)

Kill that HOT-link in your post before you get an infraction.

There are parts of ontario below the french river that you can use anything size calibre to hunt deer still. Not many but there are some, such as around the Bruce #####ula area. I have never heard anything about FMJ in Ontario being illegal for hunting, and I do have access to prvi Soft Point hunting ammo, but I was trying to get some Remington ammo. I can get some Remington ammo brought up for me from the states by some friends of mine that hunt in ontario for there own Mini-30 rifles usually once a year. But I would rather find some good quality 7.62x39mm ammo on my own.

there is nothing in the ontario regs regarding bullet construction. ANY centrefire rifle may be used for deer, bear or moose.

I was reloading to get hunting ammo for the 7.62x39, but me and my buddy had a go at making some "Moscow Match" the other night (pull the FMJ steel-core bullet, and replace with a 123 grain Hornady) -- and that worked slick as goose poop. $0.17-ish per round to start with, and add another $0.23 per round which is what I gave for the bullets, and you've got hunting ammo for $0.40 per round. That's every bit as cheap as I can reload them in brass -- and this way, I won't have to go chase the brass when the semi-auto flings it into the next province.

Too bad we can't get Wolf ammo in Kanada (at least not anywhere I'm aware of). It always makes me drool a little to see it on the shelves in the U.S. for dirt-cheap.
