7.62X51 Ammo

nice post man

my rifle headspaces close to 1.640, and after 4 reloads you see signs of headspace separation. Most of these rifles headspace around 1.634-1.642

I'm sorry but none of that makes sense to me dude, headspace is normally measured in thousandths of an inch, do you mean case head seperation? By measuring C.L. of spent cases you can check brass "stretch" and ordinarily in .308 at .005" over SAAMI is where I
remove a little brass from the neck, get back into spec and continue. Your right that at about 4-5 reloads is when the round might be too long to properly chamber, but that's why I measure and trim.

Oh you were talking about go/no go gauges, I think I see what your trying to say but the headspace of your rifle doesn't change it's the brass that is getting longer.

Once your rifle has been headspaced, it is set.

Do you know what I mean? Your gauge (1.640") in relation to your chamber ie: 1.647" gives you headspace of 0.007" I see why it can be confusing, but that's why didn't understand what you were saying. Whenever you full length size your brass it is returned to SAAMI dimensions (at least it should) except for CL which can "grow" which is why you can buy case trimming equipment to bring CL back to 2.015" ish.

just checked maximum SAAMI spec for chamber is 1.640" , I shouldn't have used those figures but still
an example

BTW you can have interference headspace or theoretically a negative number
