right.. so picked this up pretty cheap.. fired about 50 rounds in its life and is in immaculate condition.

Going to transform it into a mini dragunov

came with the russian BP02 mount, and is currently wearing my whore scope so i can gauge its accuracy..
however the trigger literally pulls upwards.. rather than back.. so if i cant get hold of a Tapco trigger then this whole project wont be going ahead.

the plan is..

-move trigger group forward
-install new trigger
-install tactical mag release ( trigger finger pressable )
-install AK74 style Brake
-replace front guard with a KVAR or SGM handguard
-replace rear stock with paraframe stock ( i might hand make an A2 style stock from wood, and a grip to match, i do like the wood and steel look )
-Mako or ERGO pistol grip ( if our laws change then it will be a coate dragunov stock on the rear )
-have a Vortex Viper 4-12x on the way, but that may be too large so i might just roll with a 2-7x Redfield
-camo job ( cant decide between rattle can or water transfer ATACS )

enough jibba jabba ... pics
( sorry only 2 for now .. more as work starts )

RPK receiver, nice. Looks like an easier conversion than say a Valmet Hunter, which I believe has the trigger completely relocated. This one at least appears to be in the correct spot for a standard trigger group.

In another thread here there's links to an NZ gun shop with absolutely ludicrous prices; $3K for a friggin Norinco M4. How would you define "pretty cheap"?

And lastly, those of us without 12.2/3/5 here hate you. That is all. :(

This is actually a Saiga, so its an enlarged AK receiver.. the Veprs use the RPK.
The trigger is currently in the rear position, which can be moved forward to the standard position, closer to the mag release.

Gun city is the website you are talking about.. they are the only major gunstore and importer in NZ and they know it, so they charge ridiculous prices and stupid NZ fudds pay it..

this being cheap cost me $750 NZD .. equiv to about $500 CAD

HEY!
Were's your can???
I thought in your country it is illegal to discarge a firearm with out one?

Sometimes Felix, I really start to hate you!!!!!:D:D:D

Good luck with your "conversion".

If you need parts/advice, try Arsenal Inc in Las Vegas Nevada. They take the Saiga receivers and rebuild them to AK spec (with required parts under 922(r) ) in the US.
