I just saw on westrifle.com, 7.62x54 brass rounds @ $310 for 880 rounds ,does anyone know if these would be reloadable.Price is right and (thinking of the future ) if there is a shortage I will at least have the brass to start reloading.

S&B or PRVI has good reloadable brass. Its better to dump cash into those as a reloading investment. Having that said, the surplus loads are great for sh*ts n giggles in a gravel pit, and the MFS makes loads, both hunting and fmj, a reasonable price for someone who is not into loading.

For loading, invest in the brass.

7.62x54R 147 Grain, Brass Case ,880 Rounds per box-
$309.99

(copied from the site. But the photo shows a dark brown, almost black case. Almost certainly lacquered steel case)

brass coated or washed

Westrifle contacted me and said it was brass washed steel ,so can;t reload, and it would be a fortune to ship to N.S.
anyone know of a 7.62x54 supplier in the Atlantic Provinces, surplus that is.

The difference between "brass wash" and "lacquered" ammo simple. Lacquered ammunition leaves residue (lacquer) in the barrel. Russian Brass wash is similar to brass ammunition thus we call it brass in Russia. It is steel case covered with layer of brass. Residue is minimal similar to brass ammunition .
MFS ammo is lacquered.
Pervii Partizan and S&B are brass.
If you do not care about barrel or you like to clean it a lot get MFS but you will save money that way. MFS also has SP rounds.
Surplus is brass wash so it is safer on the barrel but you cannot reloaded unless you have reloading tools and components.
You pay more you get more, you pay less you get less. It is up to you what to buy and what you going to do with it.
Surplus ammunition will dry up in the near future as we seen with .308 and 7,62x39.

I'm from Edmonton, You guys have some reasonable prices on ammo and I probably wouldn't mind looking at some MFS, but shipping diminishes the good deals when adding it into the price. Further to this, you guys don't have customer pick up, not sure why? There are savings when someone can work out their own shipping.

I'm in Vancouver and Salt Spring Island at the end of this month with a few spare days to check out firearm suppliers. There is no business to be done when you don't have a location.
