I have been doing lots of reading and googling but would like some advice if you could.

I currently load IMR 3031 with 150 gr PRVI FMJBT for this rifle, found 42gr to be the best for me. Now i am looking into some heavier bullets (180gr) and have 2 questions.

I see H414 is a ball powder and from my reading it seems like the general concensus for ball powders is to use a magnum primer, what do you think?

Also if I choose H4350 for a 180gr bullet it shows that max load being compressed, I don't think the same applies with regards to the primer, I would like to use normal WLR primers that I currently have.

What do you think?

Thanks, Ryan.

With H414 I found that the hotter primer worked best. I never could get the accuracy I hoped for with the 180 grain on 414. (180 rem rn .3105") I found my best accuracy with these bullets with H4350 and WLR primers, but not a max load. If I recall correctly I ended up with the best results at 50 grains of H4350. My rifle is a M39 and slugs at a tight .311".

how was the accuracy with those bullets and H4350?

The Remingtons are a decent hunting bullet, but not a target bullet by any stretch. With that load in the M39 can often get 5 rounds into 2 inches at 100 yards. A more experienced shooter could undoubtedly do better, but I am happy with that.
