Where can I find 7.62x54r, 150 or abouts grain in ontario or quebec region? This stuff is getting thin. Or does anybody know where I can find brass for it?

Thank's in advance .

I can only say good luck with the milsurp stuff. May as well buy new factory, at least you'll have some brass.;)

7.62x54r brass by Prvi is usually about $60/100 and depending on your requirements bullets can be had for around $30/100. If you're shooting a bolt and full length size, you'll get great mileage out of your brass.

I bought 200 (2x100) Prvi Partizan brass and 174 grain bullets from Tradeex a couple years ago - I don't see it listed now, but they can let you know when or where if they don't have atm.

Wholesale sports also sells what you need.

Buying Prvi or S&B SP ammo 20 rnds at a time will get you to the same place over time but for a little more $$$.

If you're in the Montreal area, friend, TRADEX does have fresh, new Sellier & Bellot (Prague, Czech Republic) 7.62x54R ammo in stock, $19.50/20 rounds and a shipping break on 400, which is a lot. This is loaded with SP hunting bullets and is NOT old corrosive military crap.

S&B ammo at one time was something I would hardly recommend, but their new stuff (and this IS new) has good brass, uses Boxer primers and is very uniform in performance. It also is a bit on the steamy side, so you will get top performance from your rifle.

Nicest thing, from MY point of view: the brass is terrific and reloads very nicely.... and it's a third of the price of the nice Svedish stuff.

There is said to be a large shipment of East-Bloc surplus on its way, but this all will be FMJ, Berdan-primed and likely highly-corrosive to boot. Not what I would want to run through a decent barrel, anyway.

Good luck in your quest!

I plan on buying a crate (800rds) of the stuff when marstar gets the shipment in. right now i'm paying $31/20rds at the local shops for 150gr prvi (1.55 per round!!!!!!!!!!)

if the crate goes for $250, after tax should work out to around 290 ish. plus shipping i'll add say $100. so 390/800 = $0.48 per round!!!! hell yes i'll pay that.

the big question is.......I have an svt-40 and 2 mosins. will they like it?

Some of that stuff might be nice, but personally I would rather reload for my Mosins... honestly they are too old now to be having corrosive shot through it.

Once you get into it, you will find that reloading for the Moisin-Nagant is exactly the same price as reloading for a .308 or for that spiffy new Ross you just got.

Same bullet for Ross and MN, same powder, just slightly different charges, same primers. Only the brass is different.

Next time you're at the range, check the brass barrel. You NEVER know what people will throw away: could be some 7.62x54R in there from someone who has to shoot and can't be bothered reloading for 55 cents a shot.

My thoughts exactly.

I really liked the S&B ammo in my Mosin.
They make it in both FMJ and soft point.
