7.62x54r "Etalon" Reference ammo

I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with this stuff? Really any more/less accurate than the green cased stuff? Rarity? Or can I happily blast away next year with a clear conscience?

I have approx 600 rounds of this stuff I picked up at the local gun show this past summer. Paid a hundred bucks.

Copper washed cases, head stamp is 21/52 and has the yellow tip - which would make it the Hungarian lead cored "reference" ammo. No longer in boxes, some was in Ziploc bags, some in yogurt containers.

I found the blurb on 7.62x54r.net - very informative stuff. But not much else.

Supposedly precision loaded ammo made for calibrating test equipment like chronographs. Considered to be Light Ball with a .311" bullet. I'd shoot it as if it is corrosively primed. Most likely is corrosive.

I figgured on corrosive.

I guess I'm just wondering if it's actually any better than all of the other surplus x54r out there. I've never seen it referred to in these forums, my search string returns only one mention on CGN and that's one of my own posts... Google brings up the 7.62x54r.net reference but that's about all.

*Shrug* Whatever. It kills paper plates and rings the gong just fine.

My 'calibrating test equipment' came from a U.S. forum via Yahoo. The only other reference was about the headstamp with a white tipped bullet. 21/51 Hungarian light and heavy ball has a yellow tip. 21/52 vintage Etalon is supposed to have a white tip. According to the guy on the other forum. Cartridge Collectors only shows the 21(the factory) and says the 52 is just the date.
Kind of surprised you'd find a whole case of test ammo though. Likely means it's just Hungarian ball shooting ammo.
