I have just purchased some bulgarian 7.62x54r (heavy ball). The brass looks relativly new, does anybody know if these particular rounds could be re-loaded? thanks

I've been looking for 7.62x54r of this myself - who did you buy in from?

Just a note - most Mosin-Nagants rifles were designed to use standard ball (147gr) ammo. Heavy ball (~180gr) can put excessive wear and tear on the gun.

If you are shooting something else, just ignore the above :p

Laugh. Being a Mosin Nagant however. You can shoot the heck outta the barrel and wear it into a paint stick and go buy another for a $100 or so. :D

Hard to find one under $200 here in Canada, but I know your point.

At the same time, seeing any fine historical weapon ruined by willful negligence on the part of the owner is sad. After all - they aren't making any more of them.

On the other hand, if he blows his up, it does a bit to ease the 7.62x54r ammo crisis :p
