"I paid 465 USD (shipping included) to get the chassis in black with no grip, stock, magazines and obviously no scope or rings. Three pic rail sections came with it". (https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...loating-barrel)

I'm scrooge. For that amount of money one would buy a nice, brand new hunting rifle in Canada! After all the Mosin is a 120 year old design!

Consider a mosin is crazy fun and pretty accurate when bedded.

I find the ammo supply and quality is #### compared to 308 (as I now shoot mostly my mosin and my m14)

Here is why:

- a lot of it is steel cored and you can't shoot it at many ranges
- Some of it is corrosive. That sucks because il means you have to be careful with cleaning. I don't want to be doing that with a mosin...
- Most of it is of ####ty quality. I thought my mosin sucked before I actually shot good ammo with it
- there is good ammo but it's starting to be the same price as 30-06, 308, 7mm...

If you really wanted to, you could build one on a Siamese Mauser because it was made for rimmed cartridges. Some gunsmiths have built .45-70 bolt actions with them. But I don't see how a Siamese Mauser is any better than a customized Mosin. And I don't see how any of those are better than a bolt action 308 shooting Hirtenberger surplus.
