ok so i was looking at some fired steel 7.62x54r cases and was thinking there has to be a use for them so far ive converted some to .209 to use with light cat sneez loads but i was thinking the base is close and the rim would have to be turned down a bit

one this i don know about is if these will make it through fireforming what do you think
 
Steel cases are crap and not to be messed with, you'll get one stuck somewhere and they don't come out easily.
 
Usually brass cases when annealed can be stretched out to different sizes. I don't think steel would do this.

There are articles on fireforming .303 British into .410 and I have tried with limited success. Some say .444 Marlin works too. Either of these can easily slip under the extractor in your shotgun and get stuck. I don't feel they are worth the bother and if you need brass a dozen or two real brass shotshells should last you a long time. I will be buying some when I get back to playing with .410 loads. For now its plastic hulls.

i dont have trouble with resizing them at all i don know why people say this i lube them a run them through the sizer


i would buy real brass hulls if i could find any here in canada anf the magtech brass being semi balloon head are blackpowder only
 
Sounds like a great idea then. Please let us know how the fireforming on the 7.62x54 works.
