but I don't see these around here? anyone bought this a reasonable surplus price lately? In the Montreal area?

I was considering getting a Moisin Nagant, but I'm put off by ammo price... none of wich is surplus...

In Canada ammo sales/imports are severely regulated by NRCAN (Natural Resources Canada - Explosives Division) Before they will approve sale of ANY ammo, they require a tremendous amount of information, chemical compositions, manufacturing quality control testing, and then they test batches of ammo themselves. Takes $$$$ and lots of time.

As a result, most of the surplus goes south, because it is difficult for suppliers to "sit" on hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars worth of inventory for a couple YEARS, and still not know if it is going to be approved for sale.

When it does come in, BUY, BUY, BUY........ so start saving your pennies now.
