Hey Lloyd

⅞ oz #8 at 1200fps has been my go to load for almost 10 years now. I use 1 oz #7 ½ at 1200fps in competition.

To tell the truth, I see no difference for 95+ % of the birds we shoot.

Yes, absolutely yes.

You don’t need (or necessarily want) high dram loads. Light loads help with swing and mental concentration and fatigue.

I shoot almost exclusive 7/8. Sometimes 1. Never more, except maybe hunting.

Yes 7/8 oz does have impressive breaks from your Guerini . I shot federal 7/8 oz at the fall classic in Weymouth out of the 725 and was happy with their performance . at 1250 I am thinking they should cycle well in my maxis as well .

All my reloads are 7/8 oz @ 1200 fps, Cabela's advertises Challenger 7/8 oz loads if you're not reloading. I've used both 700X and Titewad powder, both burned fairly dirty in my guns so you may be cleaning a gas semi more often than usual.

I've shot mine through a few semis, a 3.5" 391 Extrema 2 never missed a beat, a new A400 Excel ejected fine but didn't lock back a couple times, so it's close to not cycling. The one Maxis Sporting I tried firing them through had no issues.

I use Remington hulls with the 3/4 oz Claybuster wads (hot pink colour), seem to be a really good fit. AA hulls will probably need the 7/8 oz grey wad.

All my skeet is shot with 7/8 oz #8, unless it's foul weather. Then I use shoot and toss ammo (Challenger), most of my sporting clays are shot with 1 oz Challenger, primarily because I don't want to drag a bag of empties around with me. The 7/8 oz work fine for trap with a full choke.

I usually get 8-10 reloads out of the Remington hulls.

I am loading Win AA hs hulls with 18 grains of hodgdon clays with a cb 1100 - 12 wad fed 209a .this combination loads a very nice looking shell . Hopefully they will pattern reasonably well . Haven't tryed them yet hopeing to on sunday for the christmas daddies benefit shoot . I have loaded thousands shells using the same hull wad and powder only in the 1oz version they preformed excellent . The hodgdon clay is very clean powder so not really conserned about fowling in the auto loader plus the fact it gets cleaned after every use .

I have been hand loading 12 ga. - 7/8 oz. loads for a number of years ... and more recently have gone through several flats of Kent "Velocity" 24 gram Sporting & Target Loads
( K122OS24-8.5 ) 12ga. - 24 gram # 8-1/2 lead loads @ 1250 fps. They work very nicely at Skeet, and cycle just fine in my Beretta 391 Parallel Target. They are just fine for 5-stand, and other than for long battues and rabbits, they handle most of the Sporting presentations very nicely.

Although most ISSF International 24 gram loads are +/- 1350 fps, with 7-1/2 shot, it is surprising how well they work at International Trap !

No reason at all that 1200 - 1250 fps 24 gram / 7/8 oz. loads won't work just as well at NSSA Skeet, ATA Trap, 5 Stand & the majority of Sporting Target presentations with appropriate shot sizes.

I loaded 7/8 oz. for years and found Clays to be the best for shooting clean. Pretty much the most expensive as well.

The Kent 24 gram 8.5’s work well and with enough choke will break anything.
