Just wondering if there is any Beretta AL391 Sporting owners out there shooting 7/8 oz loads for skeet. I would like to start loading 7/8 oz and just want to make sure the gun can cycle them no problem. Also, load data for 7/8 oz loads seems limited on the internet. Is it best to buy some type of reloading manual which has data for all the shotshell powders. Thanks. Cheers.

Perless, anytime is a good time to purchase a reloading manual, especially when the internet is used for research.
Just saying, cause not everything is the gospel when place there.
I am interested in the Beretta/Benelli line.
Curious about the cycling of light loads in these guns as well.

Troy, was being a smartass about the manual...not lecturing, just offering some advice.

Yes you are right about the manual. I just got into reloading after being away from it for about 12 years. I know a lot of guys are shooting 7/8 oz loads from O/U's. The Beretta manual that came with the guns says it cand handle 7/8 oz loads. I will give it a try and get back to you. Cheers.

I have shot several thousand rounds( 7/8 oz. loads ) through my 391 with out a problem. I load WW 209 primer,16.5 gr. 700-X, WAA 12 Grey wad, and AA hull. This cronys at 1200fps from my 391. When I want to shoot 1oz. I simply substitute the WAA 12 for a WAA 12F1. Also I use AA grey hulls for 7/8 oz. and the red for 1oz. Easy to identify.

I found that 7/8 oz. loads work well in my 391s. Both Hodgdon and Alliant have lots of data for 7/8 and 24 gram loads. My 391s work well with light 3/4 oz as well.

PS Google both Hodgdon and Alliant powders. I find both have more data than my Lyman Manual which seems to be the Holy book for shotshell loaders.

Have also shot many 7/8 oz (24 gram) loads in my 391 and a friend just bought a new 391 that gave him some trouble with 7/8 oz but after shooting some 1 oz to break it in the 7/8 work now.

There are all kinds of load on the powder web sites but they are under 24 gram load. This is just a little lighter load but the international stanard load.

Lightining wads from claybuster gave me better patterns than the grey WW wads, used clays and cheddite primer in my Extrema 2, WW hull.

I reloaded all last summer clays powder and grey clay buster wads. Shot them through my 391. I cleaned the barrel about twice all summer and never had a cycle problem. The receipt actually improved my breaks.
