Didn't see much using the search, just wondering if theres many people running them. I know they didn't catch on as much at the wsm's did, and i know it will run slightly slower than a 7 rem. Wondering what component availability is like as well, thinking that a re-chamber on a 700 mountainSS might be a nice handy, mid-light weight gun, 22 barrel wouldn't be ideal, but would be nice while in the thick stuff.

Feedback appreciated

What is it chambered in now? The saum are fantastic from a design perspective. A little more neck length and slightly less capacity then the wsm will extend barrel life. Finding brass will be a challenge.

I have a nice stainless BDL in 7mm SAUM. I've never killed anything with it but for some reason I'm not ready to let it go yet.

I have a Stainless 700 BDL in 7mm SAUM. It is a deadly little chambering, often shooting a ragged hole at 100M,
and that with several different loadings/bullets. It really likes the 150 Scirocco II and the 160 AB, but is quite
Catholic when it comes to bullet choices. Drops deer like a lightening bolt, and I'm absolutely certain a Moose or
Elk will succumb to it easily as well. D.

i would be looking at picking up a mountainSS in 7-08 and reaming it out to the saum, what were you guys shooting in your sums? thinking 140 grain barnes

There's lots of short mags FS these days. I'd just but one first. Suggest finding a good supply of brass first though.

OTOH ........ The 7-08 is pretty much perfect as is for a lot of what we hunt here in Canada. Nice rifle as-is!

You Will NEED a new magnum bolt and the feeding of the FAT cartridge is a bunch different too ! Just BUY a M7 or M700 in 7 SAUM ! I have a M7 22" But then replaced the 22 " barrel with A 24 " M700 barrel and had it fluted along with the bolt ! 120 -140 gr TTSX ers are Great Bullets jmo RJ

I had Ruger KM77-R MKII Stainless rifles in 7 RSAUM and 300 RSAUM... they were nice accurate rifles and the standard MKII platform was just about perfect for these cartridges... I traded then away with dies and brass and they are two of my regrets... I really should have kept them... particularly the 7mm.

terrific cartridge, have owned four of them over the years since my first in 2002. With supply of Remington brass drying up, expect to fork over $3-4 a piece for Norma/Nosler brass. Ballistics are good, nipping on the heels of the 7mm Rem Mag. I have had two with 24" barrels and two with 26"

My current 7SAUM is a full custom. Defiance Rebel action, 26" 8 twist Benchmark #3 contour. McMillan mtn rifle stock, Rifle Basix trigger, PT&G floorplate.

I don't have any experience with the 7SAUM, but I think it's an excellent cartridge. I have the 7 wsm. I also have a 284win. Have you considered rechambering to 284win? It would be an easy conversion.
