Is this possibly one of the best all around North American hunting rounds of all time for the handloader?

Very efficient, easy to load for(so I read), very inherently accurate, good barrel life, short action(less weight), good bullet selection, quality ADG brass, etc.

Kinda fits right in between the 6.5 PRC and 300 PRC :)

No resurgence here. I've had both in multiple rifles from the get go. The Shamwow is so good I often wonder why I own hunting rifles chambered for other cartridges.

I had one a few years ago. I only sold it because it was a big heavy long range rifle and I didn’t use it much. But I definitely liked the 7 SAUM cartridge. I would definitely buy another.

I like the 7 SAUM, but I prefer the 7 WSM... and of course the 7 RM works just as good if your elbow doesn't lock up half an inch short.

I've owned four 7saums, it's a good cartridge. I went with the 280AI now, ballistic twin but my rifle holds 5 down and I can get decent factory ammo in a pinch

A lot of guys getting on the saum train. Just got all the parts in to build one for myself. Lead is proving tough to find though.

You mean bullets? Any 7mm will do, faster twists like heavier bullets. Or are you referring to loaded ammo, which is fairly scarce these days. - dan

I’m referring to just the lead. I’m particularly looking for 160 AB’s, but am looking for 170-180 gr bergers to try once it’s all put together. I see components on the e&e from time to time, but they sell pretty fast.

I see 7mm Accubonds pretty regularly at P&D here, and Cabelas. Maybe try them. Personally I always liked the 195 gr Barnes Originals, now those are hard to find. Ah well, that's part of what keeps it interesting, I guess. - dan

To bad P&D doesn't have an better website, its a great store but you have to walk in or phone to appreciate what they have in stock.

GoBigTactical had a single box of 180gr berger hybrids in stock when I was window shopping this weekend. Not alot of help, but one box is better than zero.
Like Dan said, Cabelas seems to get 160 Accubonds in once in a while.

I was tickled pink to come across this Model 7 in 7SAUM at a dealer today. I've never owned a Model 7, but have always enjoyed the aesthetic of their schnabel forend, so I think this will be a nice package. As for the 7SAUM, I owned one in a Remington 700 BDL SS many years ago and had a dickens of a time selling it (in a fit of downsizing). What was even harder to sell were the 8 boxes of Remington Premier ammunition --- now I'd sure love to have those back! Fortunately, this new rifle came with a couple of boxes of factory ammo, so I at least have a start! Now to start looking for more brass and dies...
