7 saum?

I was tickled pink to come across this Model 7 in 7SAUM at a dealer today. I've never owned a Model 7, but have always enjoyed the aesthetic of their schnabel forend, so I think this will be a nice package. As for the 7SAUM, I owned one in a Remington 700 BDL SS many years ago and had a dickens of a time selling it (in a fit of downsizing). What was even harder to sell were the 8 boxes of Remington Premier ammunition --- now I'd sure love to have those back! Fortunately, this new rifle came with a couple of boxes of factory ammo, so I at least have a start! Now to start looking for more brass and dies...

I have that identical rifle. Good choice at a great price. - dan

Thanks Dan. I've already got the dies on their way, so things are looking good. I'm not sure what to do with the rings, though... the rifle comes with a Leupold QR setup, which is actually what I use for most of my rifles, but with two-piece bases. I'm not sure I like the big chunk of steel that is the one-piece base, but I understand there are limitations the with M7 if it has just the single rear base hole. Do you have a preference for bases/rings? Something a bit lighter seems more fitting to the rifle's purpose.

I picked up a Sako A7 SS 270wsm and having it rebarreled to 7 SAUM, Im going to put a Wildcat Stock on it so might be a bit before its together !

Im going to go with a 23 inch #2 contour Benchmark 1-8.5 twist

I use Leupold one piece for the three hole receiver. There are aluminum mounts available that will save a few ounces however. - dan

I ended up buying a 7 SAUM last week, so just playing with reloading for it right now.

The gun is a Fierce CT Rival, 24inch barrel. (3 inch mag box length)

Scope is a Leica Amplus 6 3-18x44i ( had issues with the scope so mounted a LRTSi 4.5-18x44 on it for the interim).

The fun begins!

Anyone want to share some 7 Saum loads? :)

Just got a 7SAUM build last year in time for hunting, so far I’m really enjoying it. Build on a short action, the only negative thing that I have run into is a donut forming after about 4-5 firings, I got a new batch of brass and am not going to size the neck all the way down to the shoulder and see if that helps.
I find it very easy to load for and shoots almost everything well, with good velocity, RL23 and RL26 are great powder choices in it, have my best SDs and groups running fed210m instead of the fed215m.
