sometime in the near future im set to inherit a 70cal black powder pistol, does anyone have any knowledge about such a thing, im quite interested in firing it if its able to be, however without some knowledge im quite honestly pantspoopingly afraid of it. its pretty short and has the big knob on the end like the old pirate pistols,:pirate: any help would be appreciated thanks!

Is it an antique or a modern reproduction, a reproduction (not an ornamental wall-hanger) would probably be safe to shoot but an antique should be checked out by a qualified gunsmith. Assuming it is safe to shoot you will need black powder... for that calibre FFG granulation would be best, flints or caps and some balls.:D
Finding the right size balls for your gun will require some investigation if it is not marked on the barrel.
More information is needed to get you set up completely.
