700 5r .308 and berger help needed

so i guess to much of my intelligence leaked out today cuz i cant seem to find the thread for which i search

just the other week theer was a thread started for .308 reloading and its either gone or im stupid cuz i cant find it.

was the berger 175gn Match Target BT Long Range that was king of the long range for .308?

Not sure about the thread you are talking about, but I know there is a bunch of Target Rifle shooters that have flung a pile of 155.5 Bergers down range with great results.

The nice thing about .308 is it's dead easy to load for. You rifle should shoot 155-210's very well, with a multitude of powders. Some standard loads are 155 smk/berger/lapua w/ Varget, H4895, N150, R15. The same powders even work w/ the heavier bullets.

If you have the 175 BT bergers, than I have no doubt that they'll shoot. I'd try w/ a charge of Varget, and see how it goes. If you havn't got bullets yet, 175 SMKs and Varget are a very common combo as well.

Load for the bullet weight. Who made it doesn't matter.
You'll likely find more Sierra Matchkings than Bergers.
You'll have to work up the load for your rifle, no matter what brand you use. 168's out to 600 yards, 175's past there.

thanks i knew i would be fine tuneing for my rifle, but i swear there was a thread called "basic load for .308" started just the other week and every one seemed to swear by the bergers.

the local shop doesnt carry bergeres! speer, nosler, hornady seem to be big names of what they stock but they are goin to a show and doing a big order, so i basically need to get my name in for any thing i want that isnt generally stocked.

hence why im trying to find the thread, no point on spending the $ on something that has a better alternative.

if they stocked more options i would just load and shoot and see what worked. oh well guess i will grab a few different things and see how she goes haha
