I have just recently bought a 700 Banged up real good for the action, however its a long action. Has any one ever built a 308 on a long action and second how did it shoot, or does it have accuracy anything to do with the action size.
It was a 7mm Ultra and I bought it for a project gun.
I have never planed a build on a project gun and I am in the planning stages right now.
Thanks for any advice

You asked, Has any one ever built a 308 on a long action and second how did it shoot, or does it have accuracy anything to do with the action size.

I don't think you will find any difference in accuracy because of the slight difference in length - all other thing being equal.

I am assuming you mean to build a 308 magnum because of the magnum boltface?

Agreed. You'll need to either replace or bush the bolt if you go to .308 cal. My recommendation is to build a cool magnum on that action or swap it for a small bolt faced short action. 700 actions are like crack! Someone will do that trade if you put the word out.

I have a 721 bolt with a .06 bolt face. I would trade for your magnum bolt. The 721 fits the 700, but has a different bolt handle. If your bolt has the groove in the right lug that fits in the action for alleged smoother operaation, that groove would need to be duplicated. I could do that before shipping if you wish.

Thanks Guys I have Made up my mined, Since it was a 7mm Ulta mag I will leave it as that I just ordered a 30 Inch CM Barrel for it in 1/11 twist for 110 grain bullats as well as a muzzle break,.
I also ordered the Wild Cat, Thumb Hole stock from Richards Microft Gunstocks in the electric blue colour.
Will need some gun smithing but should be a sweet ride when complete.

110 grain out of an 7mm Ultra mag! What are you planning on vaporizing with that?!

X2

shooting 110gr bullets out of a 7mm ultra seems rather useless to me. and a great way to cook out the throat...

will limit your long range abilities too.... and wind bucking abilities....
