700 LTR or T3 Tactical in .223?

T3 in 20'' has a 1:8 barrel vs the LTR's 1:9...
If you're into the heavier bullet league..Tikka would give you a bigger smile :)

well what would be your max range???if say 300meters the LTR,600 T3 it would shoot heavy bullets,

I prefer the LTR because of the cost and realistically, I don't shoot past 600 meters. The lower cost would let me be able to shoot more. That being said the dm on the T3 is nice and they are comparable in weight so carry wise they are about the same and the T3 gives you more options for range. If money is not an issue get the T3 (guaranteed MOA is nice) but if you have to be tight with the pennies get an LTR and put the extra money into optics/bases/rings. The Remmy will always be easier to upgrade (aftermarket parts/availability of gunsmiths/etc)

Tons of guys shooting LTR's considerably farther than 300 yds. Jamie. 600 yds. range will be more than obtainable in terms of reasonable velocity on target.

Jamie: Let's say I have nice discounts on factory ammo ;)

I've achieve barely 500m with factory 168gr BTHP's, on the other hand with 175gr BTHP's you could go further than 600m easily, unless your a bad shot, of course :p

As for the Tikka, one drawback, its that dawn skinny stock that turns me off....Exellent rifle for the $$$

yes I know that but out of the two the 223 LTR vs the 223 T3 the T3 "should out do the LTR at greater ranges with it faster twist rate, the 77gr's will do MUCH better in the wind;)

AB69,I hate you and your discount ammo:runaway: :dancingbanana: just kidding

My TikTac in 308 was the most accurate factory gun I ever owned. it was a one-hole gun at 100 and was accurate out to 1000. If you want a gun to which you need no nothing but load and shoot, Tikka is fantastic. Their design with the stock, the recoil lug and their proprietary trigger means that you will have to be pretty happy with them because there aren't many after-market options, and nobody I know offers a press inlet fit stock to replace the factory job.

I have many remingtons but almost all of them are cutomized now.
The fact that the Remington 700 action is one of the most versatile made, makes it a pretty good investment if you find yourself wanting to do a Frankenstein on your gun.

Tikka or Rem

I watched a fellow shooting a new Tikka in .223 this summer at Connaught Ranges he was doing quite well at 300 m he had said to me he had a load that was grouping 1/2" I beleive his gun T 3 had a 1/8 twist which would handle the heavy bullets good. for me a must if your going to shoot 500 and +
I guess I am a Rem man because they all have been good to me, and so many after market stuff available and they have tremendous resale value it is very hard to find a used 700 action under $500.
My brother and I want to get into F class shooting in the F/M class and the gun we choosed was the Rem 700 Police in .223 /26" barrel with the 1/9 twist to handle the bigger bullets that buck the wind better at LR there not cheap $950
just my .02 cents

I loved my Tiktac in .223. If I was to do another bolt rifle I would spruce up a Remmy for a few reasons: Initial cost, mag cost, mag well options, Mag cap.stock options, brl options, total weight (TT3 is heavy)...etc...

Out of the box the TT3 is one hell of a rifle. Far better than I am at shooting it. But my next one will be a Remmy in .308

The reason I'm asking is because there is a slight chance I may be getting some back pay and although I have a 10FP in .223, I really like the looks of the 20" barreled rifles and may go buy one if the money arrives, which I doubt.
