Anyone have any experience with 700 x
I been wanting to try.

I hear it's good with 9mm 124gr plated and also good for 45 auto.

I also load 45LC, 357/38, 40 s&w

Thought I'd get some opinions before I go buy some.

I only loaded 9mm 124gr RN Berry's with it, with 4.0gr and OAL 1.12" I had PF130 out of Shadow. It's measuring fairly well but I find it a bit dirty burning. I've gone thru 8-10lbs of it.
 
I use it in 9mm,124 gr plated 4.2 gr. It burnt dirty at 4 gr. I found it burns the cleanest at the higher end of the charge rates. Great in .45 ACP, 5 gr, 230 gr plated, 5.5gr in 200gr plated. When I first started using it the brass was always sooty, bumped up the charges and brass doesn't even need to be cleaned. One of my favorites in 9 mm and .45 ACP. Found it fluffy in the .38 and .357. Now I use W231 for the .38 sp, and H110 for the .357 mag.
 
Don't know how good it is for shotgun reloading, but for pistols it costs more than titegroup but doesn't do anything "better" imho. TG is about 30$/lbs including shipping, so if you can get 700X for less than that, you might wanna go for it, otherwise I would pass.
 
If you have it for shotgun, you can also use it for handgun. It is a flake powder and does not measure well in small quantities in some powder throwers. In fact, it won't measure at all in some models.

You are much better served with a ball type powder like TiteGroup or 231. 231 is the more flexible, if you want to use one powder for a lot of different calibres.

I've used it in 38 spl. and 45acp. Like Ganderite said, I found it wouldn't meter consistently below 4.0gr. Over 4.0gr. wasn't a problem. That's using a Lee Auto-disk measure with the micrometer instead of the discs.

I picked a bunch up 19$ per pound taxes in, it was on the Wholesale Sports 40% off powder sheet.
 
I got two pounds for free and used it to load .38spl through a Dillon 650. It worked well enough, velocities were consistent and it didn't seem to burn any dirtier than 231 or Titegroup.
 
It works great in a Dillon XL650 using the powder fill checker that beeps if there isn't enough powder in the case. Used it in 45 acp and 9mm. Still use it in 9mm but switched to W 231 for 45 acp.
 
Works in (obviously .12ga shotgun) .40S&W as well as .45acp, 9mm & .44Mag Revolver (not enough umph to reliably cycle my DE) but again pretty good in the .44 revolver.

Well it is a shotgun powder mostly aimed at trap shooters, so, yeah...probably good for shotguns.

I have used it for 38 Spl and 45 ACP cast bullet loads. Squirts them out the end of the barrel fine but it is dirty.

I always use titegroup, I would like to find a good alternative for when supplies are lacking on the retail end.
 
hp38/win231 is a good powder that's kind of a jack-of-all-trades for pistols so always good to have some on hand, but it's slightly more expensive and requires more powder/round than titegroup, with no real benefit as far as measuring or clean burning goes. Powder price for pistols is not the end of the world though, bullets cost so much compared to powder that the price difference doesn't really matters. The hassle of recalibrating your powder drop matters more to me. And since I always seem to find TG for not too expensive a price and it goes a real long way per pound, I stick to it for 9mm.

In order:
1-Titegroup
2-hp38/Win231
3-Autocomp, longshot, 700X or HS6

As you can see, ranked last are mostly the shotgun powders. If I find myself using shotgun powders it's because it's really inexpensive or because real pistol powders are unavailable.

Titegroup is out of stock and I totally didn't realize my 8lb jug is now empty lol
I use a Lee pro auto disk.
I think 231.
Seems a lot of loaders do use it.
My 460, 44 mag and 454 casull I use H110.
If I can get my hands on 125gr plated bullets for .357mag I'll use H110 for those too!
