i just bought a 700 xcr a few months ago im pretty happy with it but the stock is kinda flimsey on the forend and bends up and touches the barrel when i use my bipod which makes it shoot a little bit higher any ideas on how to fix this? i was going to try filling the front end in with marine tex and beeding the action but if anyone has a better idea let me know.

my 700 wasn't an xcr but basically they have the same stock, i think it is made by tuperware or something. with the crap stock it shot anywhere from 1/2" - 2 1/2" groups..never consistent. took a buddys stock off his sendero to try and it consistently shot 3/4 " . so i bought a sendero stock for myself and bedded the chamber area. now the gun consistently shoots 1/2" - 3/4" groups ( 5 shots not 3 shots) all day long. my advice...dump the stock and buy something worth having..laminate, traditional wood, or a decent aftermarket option...but that is just my opinion.:dancingbanana:

Robertson Composites make some nice stocks also; I have one on my Rem 700, and one on my T/C Omega.

When I was there about a month ago, Ian (owner and CGN member) was showing me a stock that looked like a standard hunting stock, but the customer wanted it light so it ended up at 23 ounces. He knows what he is doing, and he can modify stocks to suit you..just as long as you have the cash ;).
