I have done some extensive testing with 223 rem In a 700 xcr LRT with factory Bell & Carlson stock, only changed trigger
Reloading - Hornady Collet dies are fair but they work the brass to much
best Redding dies with Titanuim Bushings
Neck turn your brass
Bullets everone was using 75gr Amaxs they just plain don't shoot as well as Sierra's in Savages or Remingtons, the Hornady 75gr HPBT Match is a better bullet, but not a Sierra or a Berger.
As one member mentioned Rem had a problem with to large hole in bolt face for size of firing pin. I had a Police last year as well my brother took em back to Epp's measured bolt hole size the new one was fine, walked out of store with new no questions asked
Three friends have Savages 12 at range I shoot at 2 of Savages have problems with bolts not opening, hammer and TapTap to open, one has a firing pin proplem as well. The other Savage seems problem free its the oldest of the three. They Savages all shoot very well but not tight groups with 75gr A max's at any distances. the guys have all switched to Sierra's
For me
Rem bolt, light years ahead of Savage there bolt its clunkie and awkward
I like the barrel on Savage
Stock. Remington
Trigger Savage they did a good job.
Resale value Remington # 1
I shot this group Wed at 300 yards for one who asked to share load its marked on Target and the flyer was last shot first 3 where .387"
