725 Browning piercing primers

My 725 Sporting has an issue with piercing primers in the lower barrel, Cheddites in particular, though occasionally it pierces a Winchester 209 also. While firing pins are easy to replace and not expensive, it's a nuisance. Who else has had this problem and what was the fix, if there was one?
 
haven't tried Cheddites in my 725 but had trouble in my wife's cyengery. to me what we pay for these guns I just stopped loading with Cheddites and stuck to Winchester as I haven't had a issue with them. Cheddites and piercing has been problem with over / unders for awhile do to the angle of the firing pin
 
How old are the Cheddites. This was a very common problem with them in I am going to say 2005 /2006 to the extent many stopped using them for good and apparently Cheddite redesigned the primer at the time
Could yours be on a shelf for a while?? I don't know the lot numbers effected by there was a ton of talk on shotgun sports st the time if you want to look there
Me I hate them after I went through the diameter issue way back and don't care how cheap they are I will never use them again.

These are new stock to my knowledge, same problem with Challenger shells, they use Cheddite components. It's done this as long as I've owned it. I'm going to shorten the firing pin slightly, it hits plenty hard. If I eliminate the problem with Cheddite and get reliable ignition with other brands I'll call it fixed. I have some spare pins on the way, just in case.
 
A couple guys I shoot with have the same problem, one is a cynergy, one is a Citori. IIRC only the bottom barrel pierces the primer. I haven't had any trouble with my Cynergy, it does hit really hard on the bottom primer but hasn't ever pierced one.
My friends switched brands of ammo and haven't had any trouble since. This has all been in the last couple years, so they should be new manufacture.
 
Yup, my winchester 101 and a couple others at the club had the same problem. Avoid cheddites in an under barrel. Lots of stories... If you keep shooting you will get firing pin erosion. I haven't had a problem with any other primers, only cheddites from challenger hulls, and only in the under barrel of my o/u. I would get 1 or 2 pierced per round. Stop using challengers and my problem is solved. I probably shoot 50/50 winchester and federal primers now and I look at every one. None are pierced.
 
It's not just O/U, Beretta semi's seem to not play well with Chedites either. One member at my club shoots Challenger traget loads exclusively through his A-400, 1 in 5 primers will be pierced from what I've seen.
 
I've had the same problem with Challenger shells, bottom barrel of more than one O\U. For the worst one, which was piercing 80% of the primers, I re-radiused the firing pin to reduce the off-centre strike of the firing pin. (ie radius more prominent in the centre of the primer, less prominent at the outer edge.) As most U\O's have the firing pin in the lower barrel "slanted" a fair amount, the pin tends to work toward the edge of the primer.
