I have a hand me down 742 in .308. I love the gun, and it was my dad's. He used it to take many whitetail and I have continued the tradition. I have taken deer with it at 10, to just over 300 yrds. All have dropped like rocks. Too bad I was skunked this year.
I am sad to say that lack of maintenance has taken its toll on mine. Although it still looks like it came out of the box, the inside of the receiver has taken some punishment. This was the reason I purchased my Thompson this year and now the Woodsmaster will be my "just in case gun."
Or in the event I ever go for something larger than whitetail, this will be my gun of choice.
Does this make me an official member of the club?
