Old 742 308 carbine, I got this one to show a few folks (Supercub mainly;)) that its not so much the gun, as poor owners that let these rifles down. With a little maintenance and a willing owner you can do alot. Additionally I got this one to burn up a stockpile of Lapua 308 match ammo I couldnt even give away , its eaten up the 155s and 168s like nobodys business. Great little rifles. If only the cocking handle and mag release were bigger....hmmmm

Couldn't agree more.

Had one identical in 308 for many years until the "need/want" for a 35 Whelen overtook things, meaning back then, it just had to be a 7600. No regrets there either !

The 742 accounted for an even half dozen moose and a small herd of deer.
Never malfunctioned ONCE. The "buddy" at work I sold it to has been shooting it
for the past 15 years and reports " No malfunctions" as well. Keep it clean, especially the chamber and don't abuse the magazine ... no problems.

glad to see some people put in for this club and also has anybody ever used remington 180 grain bronze points on deer if so how did they work

No feeding issues with my M750/35Whelen carbine - or my 7400/35Whelen rifle when I owned it before I acquired this newer handier incarnation. Only complaint is M750's iron sights with high stock comb are not user friendly - real flinch inducers. Scoped is fine. Had it at the range a month ago and it did OK for accuracy but no MOA as I recall.
