would like to know if anyone has a suggested load for a remington 7400 chambered in 30-06 using a Speer 180gr HotCore Spire Point
have most IMR powders and have had good luck with my 742 in 30-06 with Imr 4350
was thinking probably around 54-55gr of IMR 4350
any help would be appreciated

I don't have any loads to offer you unfortunately. But I will suggest small base dies for this rifle.
It's reputation for jamming is pretty intense, as was the experience with the one I had.
There are of course good ones. I hope yours is one of those.

I'm using regular Lee dies for my 30-06 carbine and it doesn't miss a beat. I am currently using H4895 with Hornady 150SST but will be working up a load for the Speer 200 grain equivalent when time permits.

IMR-4350 47.3 49.3 51.3 53.3 55.3 2400,2500,2600,2700,2800fps using Sierra 180 SPT (Sierra manual)

Mine used to have jamming issues, they went away when I bought a 7600 mag for it. If you can live without the bolt hold feature it is a cheap fix.

Just sitting at the bench trying to decide on a load and bullet for my 7400 that my father gave me.Don't even know if I will hunt with it as I am a bolt action man but would like to reload for it anyway. I've already determined the throat is quite a bit shallower than my bolt in this cal(.30/06 btw).if I do use it, it will be for whitetail.I have 150 nbt, 150 sst,150 interlock in both btsp and flat base, 180 interlock RN. Anyone loading these rifles in this cal with any of these bullets? My first choice are 165 sst but I am almost out. What powder are you using? Thanks

Edit:holy crap, I didn't realize what a "necro thread" this was lol!

Haha...I've since sold that rifle (sorry I did) but as I said, mine liked 4064 and 4895 but definitely with heavier bullets!

Yeah, this thing has been in family since new around 28 yrs now.I know they have a reputation for problems but this one has been trouble free. It is kept very clean though.Definitely not my favorite type of rifle but it has sentimental value.i have three powders on hand to try,h4895,h4350 and varget.
