Went to shoot my 742 yesterday. It was working the day before, now the bolt is hard to open. The lugs don't seem to want to turn enough to release. Wondering if I have a broken firing pin. Should you be able to move it?

It's possible that the timing piece nose or tail has broken and the piece is sitting up too high, preventing the bolt from rotating. Are you able to take the rifle apart, or know someone qualified to do it?
These rifles are notoriously known as "Jam-o-matics" with good reason, they self-destruct over time and use.

I have a wrench made by Menck that was made specifically for the 740/742/7400 rifles, but if you can find a regular box wrench that fits, you can grind it's sides to fit inside the action bar rails.

I just had this with a 760 the bolt spring was worn and jammed between the two parts of the bolt

you will need to remove the barrel to fix this
I recommend a local smith
