I'm planning a switch barrel 760 Remington. Would anybody know where I might find a barrel bracket or complete barrel assembly.
I've got an add on the exchange, but thought I'd kick it out here as well.

This was covered in Why Not's thread on making a switch barrel 760 , in his case , a 9.3X62 . I think it was Lumley arms . Take a look at his thread , its on page two in this forum .

Well - The barrel bracket (brush guard) is just a piece of plate. Considering it is omitted in the later design, you could probably get away with out it.

I have rebarreled a 760 with a 742 barrel. The barrel brackets are slightly different due to the action differences but one from a 742 should work fine with the 760.

I'd be interested in a source for barrel brackets as well - I'm guessing they can't or won't ship direct to canada??? I have no idea.... I wonder if a bunch of people wanted them if they could be imported via one of the brokers on cgn?

I have a 760 with two barrels (complete factory assemblies) both in 308, one barrel is a factory carbine, the other is a standard rifle barrel. Here is a quick summary of my research:

760 barrel assemblies will interchange with other 760's but not 7600's. 7600's barrel assemblies will interchange with other 7600's but not 760's. The the actual interchange is not difficult and somewhat similar to an 870 shotgun interchange.

It is difficult to find a barrel assembly in either model- the barrels usually go for near the price of a complete gun. If your pump calibre is in a short cartridge, 243, 308 etc you will need a spare magazine if you want to rebarrel to a long cartridge 270, 30/06, 35 Whelen. Short cartridges in short magazines, long calibres in long magazines. Action lengths and bolt faces are the same for short and long.

Obviously a 223 model is a wild card; the bolt face will not fit other calibres.

I hope this helps. I would be interested in knowing if anyone has rechambered a 760/7600 to a magnum calibre.

I just put a 742 barrel on a 760, I drilled and tapped for a 6-48 thread, and put a screw in the hole. So far I can't see any gas leakage.
