I’m trying to get my hands on a Remington 7600 carbine which had the 18.5” barrel. Also more specifically I’m after one with synthetic furniture, chambered in 30-06. Does the timney 870 trigger fix change the feel of the trigger at all? Or just the weight?

If you don’t yet have one, I presume you’re asking because you heard they’re heavy …and rough … with a lot of creep. Well, I can confirm that. Unfortunately, I didn’t know about the Timney trigger fixes (available at Midway USA for about $130US) so I had to do a bit of filing and replaced the spring with one from a local hardware store for about $2Cad (no doubt made in Jina). The result: same amount of creep …but smoooooth. Not sure about the weight but it’s a bit lighter than my Cooper. Ah likes it!

Probably easier to buy the carbine and then get synthetic stocks to add.
True enough as the older 760 carbines had wood stocks and many 7600’s as well. Of the thousands that were produced, not many show up on the EE.

Those centrefire rifles use many cross platform parts. It was intentional by Remington. I had a Model 74, which was the same as a 740,742, 7400 except for the finish on the metal and the material of the stock.
I don't have that rifle anymore because the thing shot vertical groups. It would not fall in predictable round groups.

I sent a few of my triggers to Dennis Sorenson in BC many years ago for the grind/polish treatment, not a job at the time many smiths wanted to perform, but needless to say they all came back to me absolutely excellent.... but sadly he is now retired and do i ever miss him!
You can use magpul sga or any aftermarket 870 furniture with a 12g/20g adapter. Also if you had a barrel custom made (by a shop) you could in theory get it as short as you want if you had a fixed stock. 16” or 14” or whatever works, if you want to. Personally I’d rather have something about 18-20. They made a “7600 police” in 308 with a 16” barrel also a 223 version 16” 7615 that took ar mags. Always wanted one of those

Had a 760 in 308 , took many Moose & a few deer ! Blue with wood furniture , Gave to my nephew , little heavy scoped . Now have a 7600 in 308 and the 223 carbine , both nice guns and don't find the triggers bad for what I use them for . P.S. Not for sale !
I have installed the "Timney trigger fix" in around ten 870/1100s that I have. It is the same part as for the 7600. It is basically a new sear and 3 different springs with different pull weights.
In most of those guns it has improved the trigger very much .... less creep and a lighter trigger pull.
But in two instances I had to polish the hammer engagement a bit and to improve further .....
