Well I got my TG from 762.
- It fits nice n snug into the receiver (better fit than the Poly TG)
- It clamps tight as the guard passes the trigger (tighter than the Poly TG)
- It has a decent trigger pull as is:eek:
- It passes the function and hammer follow test perfectly. Safety functions well.
- It is nicely parked and has the drawing numbers and manufacturer stamped on housing (7267090 7.62MM USA) and hammer (5546008 7.62mm USA).

However, the mag release will not lock a magazine in place!!:(
And yes I'm using GI mags (Borg Warner) and none of them will lock in. The Poly TG does this flawlessly.
Upon closer examination it looks like the 762mm mag release is slightly taller than the Poly's and will not snap under the magazine tab when mag is fully seated in mag well. There is also a slight design difference between the two housings in that area (see pic 3).

Anyone else get one of these in lately? Anyone else having this problem?
Before I consider filing the mag release down I want to be sure this is the cause.
Thomas, if you're around I'd love to hear from you on this issue.
I could send you this unit for evaluation if you would like to spec one of these TG's out and check out the new M14 crack:D

Do you have a vernier? With the catch pressed back into the channel of the housing body, what is the height from the top of the catch to the top of the housing for each unit?

It could be the poly TG is seating less deeply.

I thought that it was just me that had this issue. I have to press really hard just to get the mag to "snap" in place. So in the end I turffed it and slapped in a Sadlak extended mag release & it seems to be working better. M14Doctor is out for a couple of more day's still getting his new house in order but who I would really like to hear from is Mark's response. Did you try contacting him yet with your issue?

Who's Mark? if you mean the guys at 762mm that handles cnadian sales, it's Chris.

I wonder if it's the hole that's drilled too high for your rifles, or the release itself that is too tall. If the latter, The sadlay part is beter and is under $40.

I think it may be early to judge this maker's parts too harshly as this is their first run for most parts. I've had a few issues with their stuff so far, but in all cses they seem to be handling it very well in terms of customer service.

I'll post more once a couple of outstand parts replacements are resolved so I can give a fair account.

Thanks for your responses guys. I measured the distances from mag catch to top of housing last night and the 762 mag catch is slightly taller. I want to keep the OEM style mag release so I'll try a few passes with the file. Satain how does the rest of your TG check out? All good? Like I said this is the only issue I'm having.

One thing to caution on, that tab is probably VERY hard. You might not be able to cut it with a file. If not, then try stoning it or using a diamond file, or carefully use a dremel grinding wheel or even a belt sander.

Good luck! :)

In other news, I talked to the guys at 762 again today and their first batch of series production bolts is going to heat treating today, shipping June 15th.

Supper sweet!
I got my cousin in florida to send it in to Ron Smith for 1 of his custom trigger jobs before I recieved it. The only problem is that I can't shoot as good as this new trigger will let me ;)
Only thing I have left to do is to find a new barrel for my NM nork reciever and she will be done like dinner.

Ok, its definitely the top of the mag release. I installed the TG into the receiver without the stock and put the mag in. It locked in but very hard. To get it to release I had to push very hard for it to pop back out. Should work just fine after some filing.

Stoned it and it still wont release the mag properly. And so the search begins for a usgi mag release. If I cant find one I'll have to get a Springer one from Brownells as Fabsports looks to be out of those Sadlak ones.

You can also get the Sadlak release from Brownells directly.

Also, you COULD take more material off the 762 release until it works?

Won't work. The Poly TG has a different pin size (larger) than a GI trigger group.

If you put a sadlak into a Poly group, you need to order a special one from FAB SPORTS with a larger pin hole size.

Any possibilty of drilling it out to fit?
No Need!
Just do the roll pin in the roll pin trick. Although this goes against all the hard effort what he is trying to do in creating an US new part's rifle's. J996 if my PM doesn't help you I know of some 1 localy that might be willing to part with his.

What about seeing if 762 will send you a latch that's within spec?
He has the owner's direct phone number & would really like to here what they have to say dirrectly.

Well, apparently the nice 762 mag release isn't working, and the crappy Poly one is!

If it were my trigger group that I paid for, I would be asking 762 why it isn't working and have them fix it. Seems like a warranty issue to me...

Find someone that has swapped out theirs for the Sadlak extended part and offer to buy it from them .
I had one laying around here from my swap, not sure if I still have it or not, but I will look around and see if I can locate it .
If so I will PM you .

I have located a usgi one and it is on the way. Other than that everything else on this TG is good to go.
