762x39 on strippers good or no?

That's not a bad price, not great but not bad. Plus you get 120 stripper clips per crate. If you were to order a crate for say $240 then add $40 to $60 for shipping you would be about the same. Most likely the bxn surplus which is corrosive but good ammo.
TradeEx has $295 for 1400 free shipping offer, no clips as they are boxed or wrapped by the 20 but a better cost per rd.

Buy one crate where you are at to get your lifetime supply of clips then order a crate to get the better deal per shot.

They are all individually wrapped in cardboard and plastic. How would you ever use these in battle? I guess the steel cases will rust so they need the plastic wrap. Should a guy buy an extra case or is 1200 rounds enough? Not sure how much I plan to shoot.

No such thing as "enough". And it's not going to get any cheaper or more available any time soon.

it's always good to have extra ammo, that said, you may not like the SKS and sell it soon. the plastic wrapped stuff was repackaged for the civilian market.

They are wrapped but they were thinking more of the AK not the SKS. The surplus ammo is stored in vacuum sealed spam cans to keep out moisture. They are either lacquer coated or copper washed steel, both act to deter rust. I have ammo from the early 70's and it is in perfect condition. Didn't matter if it was lacquer or copper washed, from bxn, Russia or PRC still went bang. Don't open the spam can until you need it. I'm sure another few years won't hurt it. The plastic wrap on clips is also IIRC vacuum sealed and I believe from bxn but it may have a keep away from children label on it.

Its in a wooden crate with layers of brown and green paper and a tar like sealer poured over the top. THen inside it has 2 large bags and inside each bag is whole lot of individually wrapped strippers.

It's great ammo and I like the fact that the stripper clips are sealed in individual bags and then in 300 round bricks. There should be 4- 300 round bags per case if it's the Czech stuff.

Get two crates or you will wish you had! $299 is a great price right now because no one else has any of that in stock at a lower price.

If you find other bulk ammo at a lower price, you can keep this plastic packaged ammo for later use. Great advice I wish I had taken myself!

I was going to suggest the great free shipping deal Budget had on this stuff but it seems he's sold out. Damn. $299 isn't terrible at the moment.... I've had good luck with the Czech surplus. I burn it in all my Russian surplus, x25, x39 and x54...

Not great, as it was $199 a month ago and for a few years prior. Late 70's - early 80's production. Czechoslovakia origin..

Nope that would be late 80s early 90s Czech military surplus. They switched from paper wrap to plastic in the mid eighties.
Great shooting stuff but seems more corrosive than Chinese IMHO.

$300 for 1200 rounds is too much there are better deals around with free shipping, if you need stripper clips, fellas on here will give you a couple handfuls for the price of postage, you don't need many! Even Tradeex who just raised their price are $295 for 1400 rounds free shipping! Marstar $295. 1440 rounds free shipping and $285 for 1320 rnds! Free shipping saves to you between $35 - $50 for a crate unless you are close enough to pick up! There are more places with better prices! Marstar even goes as far as breaking it down for you $ per round!
