Anyone else in Alberta get screwed this year?

I only got antlerless WT in 108.

A buddy got ZERO draws.

Is it just our bad luck?

Depends on what and where you applied. What else did you apply for?

We were drawn for antlerless whitetail and mulie in 108, and cow elk in 400, so I'm pretty happy with that. That being said, I think we're at a priority 11 now for bull moose in 400, and it will probably be a few more years before we draw that tag.

I was away all last week salmon fishing with my dad and had no contact with friends.

I "999" all of mine...Mulie, moose, bull elk, trophy full curl sheep. I want the see how the mulies look this fall and will probably put in next year and get drawn.

Our hunting group so far that I know has 2 tags for bull moose as of this afternoon and will more likely be 3 as the one guy had a high priority. Myself and another friend should be drawn for next year. Needed to start playing the game in order to have moose campp every year.

Trophy sheep is priority 11 or 12 now...cant remember.....no time to get down to hunt them this year if I was drawn.

I may get a landowner's permit for cow elk if my wife didnt get drawn.

If you look here: http://www.mywildalberta.com/Hunting/HuntingDraws/HuntingDrawsReports/DrawsSummaryReport/Default.aspx

you will find the results of the 2011 draws. Things generally don't change much from year to year. Not bad luck, not enough research or planning. I can tell you right now what I'll be drawn for next year. ;)

At least there's still general tags. You can still hunt bull elk, mule/wt buck, wt/poss. mule doe, bear, waterfowl, upland, sheep. Did I miss any? :)

Best advice, read and reread the regs, drawbook, surf my wild alberta and become familiar with albertarelm. All the info's there, but there's lot's of info to peruse.
If there's something you don't understand or need help with, don't hesitate to pm me, or post and someone will help you.

A big zero for me this year. My priorities are way too low to actually be drawn for anything.

Oh well General tag and birds this year.

Not trying to run it in, but I faired pretty well. Got all the deer draws I was hoping to get. I put in for zones S.E & N.E of Calgary. Should get a trophy antelope tag if I have any luck. It all depends on where you want to hunt, some areas are tougher than others to get drawn. Like Suka said, do your research, might have to try a different area to get drawn more often.

I pulled a 232 Bull moose tag, and a Wainwright 2nd rifle season tag. Looks like i am going to spend some time in wainwright this fall.

Archery Antelope is also looking decent, depending on how many tags are issued this fall.

antlered moose in 526 and antlerless elk as a back-up tag in 521....I get confused when people claim they got screwed in a priority system draw...weird...

Mulie buck, cow elk...buck on a "2", elk on a "3" so it can be done.

As Suka pointed out, read and re-read. Since 2007 I have been drawn for something in every year except 2010 when I tried a different tactic. Research will pay off. Also, the draws are essentially a supplement to the general season tags - make good use of them combined with your draws and you'll have more opportunites than time off work to hunt.

Some areas I went for last year had a 100% Priority 1 draw success. This year I didn't get them. I am curious if it is because they dropped the number of tags available for draw or if there was a sharp increase in applicants.

But thanks for your condescending 2 cents

My back yard! Mule buck in 232, and Camp Wainwright primitive. I like the 10 min drive, and lunch @ Tim Hortons.

No draw for me and I really don't mind, because I love hunting mature whitetail bucks the most, and I can just purchase my tag/license over the counter every year. Yaaa Hoooo!!! :D

My son received his mule buck draw so he should be successful with a good mulie. I've been scouting aready for it and found a potential candidate.:D

OK. So you didn't actually get screwed...It seems there has been some changes in tag numbers all across the province. It will be interesting to see the Draw Stats from this go around.
