My 780 wont load shells out of the magazine. Never been familiar with shotguns, just bought this one nice and cheap. I finally got some shells now it's not releasing them from the magazine. I took out the trigger group to get a better look, but I can't tell whats going on.

Has anyone come across this problem?

Have you installed anything additional to the gun?

I had an issue with a side saddle not allowing the pump to come all the way back.

The way it should work is as the slide comes back it pushes a sping loaded bar towards the wall of the reciever. That spring loaded bar is whats holding the shell in the tube.

Can you pull the trigger group and take some pictures of inside the receiver?

What do you mean by it's not releasing them from the magazine? There isn't any rocket science involved, it's a cheap ####ty plastic button in front of a cheap ####ty spring. Take it apart and clean it up, make sure the button moves freely and the spring isn't broken. I sanded mine down a bit to make it move nice, although I'm planning to get an S&J follower one of these days. Next, you have a little leaf spring on the side that holds the shells in when you stuff them in, when you yank the pump back the action presses on that leaf spring and allows it to release a shell. Check to make sure that it's being pressed inward, if it's not you'll have to take her apart thoroughly and figure out what's up. If it does move, it may just need some adjustment. Just remember, you get what you pay for, so don't complain too much. These guns are known to be crap. One thing you need to be careful of if you get her functioning properly, is the front part of the ledge on the reciever that the pump rail rides on. If it's not bent down already, it likely will be. I've put at least 80 rounds through mine and it looks like that ledge is about to break off. I'm going to be figuring out a solution before I put any more rounds through it.

There are two of those, I'm looking at mine right now and it looks like the spring on the side you have pictured barely intrudes on the magazine at all. The spring on the other side intrudes much further. I wonder if you adjusted that tang so that it just barely intrudes on the magazine, if that would make a difference?

Ok so it was a matter of just wathcing the action. I thought sierra was being a little condesending, but hes completely right, it's not rocket science.
From the pic; the slide action B moves toward the leaf spring A. only my leaf spring is too high and instead of the slide action sliding over top of it, it's going right under it.

I fixed it by taking the slide, bolt and bolt carrier out. Then i just gave the two slide bars a squeeze. It's good enough for now but i may try a less mickey mouse approach later. I just want shoot this thing.

Beauty. These things are like cheap beater cars, you WILL have to do work on them. The trade-off is not paying $350. My 780 is a POS, but that's alright with me, I knew what I was buying. But please watch that ledge on the receiver, I honestly think that's a big issue with these shotguns, when SFRC started selling them a few guys noticed that it was bent, mine wasn't but it sure is now. It will break off without some sort of TLC and I can only imagine how much fun that would be.

i had one of these shot guns for a few days and got rid of it because it was just worthless i traded it in for a winchester sxp it was 5 bucks diffrence
