...

After 2 trips to Gravel and a year later, I'm starting to like my Remlin 1895. I stopped being mad at it long enough to try out some 405 gn cast loads and I've come to appreciate how accurate this thing is with those big chunks of home-made lead.....and fun too!

mines a 1st gen Marlin with the factory magna-porting blued. one of my fav. by far. great quality ,fast ,very little muzzle jump-fast follow up shots.I scoped it and was impressed with accuracey in 405 grain hot loads (2 full grains over book spec). no recipes as its not safe!!

For practical reasons I went with the Marlin 1895GS. Good action strength to be able to handle todays reloads, nice and short to fit the handle bar rack on my quad and the weather resistant qualities sometimes required here on the 'wet coast'.
