7mm-08 Ackley

Been toying around with the idea of building up a 7mm-08 Ackley. From what i can see running a 162 ELDM at 2800fps should be fairly comparable to a 6.5CM 153.5gr Berger LRHT. with just slightly more recoil energy (.7lb more in a heavy rig) I Like playing around with more Niche cartridges so this could be a fun PRS style rifle.

I Have this 223 Rifle sitting in a magpul chassis, that chassis would be a pretty perfect drop in option. im Thinking a KS Arms SA3R with a 27" MTU Profile Barrel, 1:8 Twist.

Anyone have any experience with the cartridge? love to hear your thoughts and loads!

A 308 cartridge does not work that well in a .223 action. The conversion can be done but not easily or cheaply.

yup maybe you could build a 7 mm TCU A I then you would have all the variations covered

For a cartridge in that size category with 7mm bullet, I vote 7 SWC as the coolest. And it'll outperform the 708AI.

I shoot a 7mm-08 AI, as well as a couple of the regular flavor. It's a great cartridge, but you don't gain much over the regular case. A 284 would be a better step up to achieve your velocity goals. - dan

I agree with the above atatement.

Totally a Complete Different Cartridge and it’s only comparison is it’s 7mm .284 diameter

7 PRCW is a popular PRS round, better than a 284 imho

is anyone running 7PRCW in prs? iirc its classified as a magnum and that alone would be against most of the club rules around western canada.

do some have weight and velocity limits? the 7 is a magnum size bolt face but 180ish @2850ish ....

Im running a 7-08ai that i put together for NRL. Ultimatum HMB action, IBI 25" 8.5 twist barrel, in mdt crbn stock. Im running a 171 match burner at 2742fps h4350 in alpha brass. Works pretty good.
