on a build like this, I would first check the cartridge OAL. if the cartridge is pushing 2.99", feeding may be an issue.
I doubt you will gain much effective case volume but it will be a ###y looking case. If making cases from Lapua 308Win brass, I would outside neck turn before necking down.
Also, if you do intend to compete with this, just keep in mind that sharp shouldered cases and rain can lead to unintended consequences.

There were a few guys running a 7 Creedmoor for PRS and NRL, I'd have to ask if they still are. That would basically be the same as a 7-08 but with a case optimized to run the longer bullets and still be at mag length. I wanna say they were pushing 180s around 2600 or so. I honestly don't really see the point (vs just running a 6.5 with heavies) since there is no magic cartridge that will improve your scores. That comes with training and match experience. I also get that sometimes it's just about trying something different just cause it's interesting and obviously that's fine too.
2700fps seems optimistic.
Have you ran the numbers? I am pretty sure a 153.5 hybrid doing 2680fps will have less drift and less drop compared to a 180 (unspecified) doing 2650fps.
Slower bullets, with bigger diameter, and probably the same or worse BC, do not have less drift.
You could be right.
It's a long proven fact that 7s fly more consistently than 6.5 for the f class guys. Hence the reason most guys run 284s and not 6.5/284. So might be a little something there, might not. There will definitely be more recoil all other things being equal.
I have 6 and 6.5 barrels sitting here, just wanna play with something different. My thought was a 7swc without all the expensive, proprietary brass and dies.
I find myself not having the time to go compete at prs matches. But I can make the time to shoot in the back 40.
It's more satisfying to experiment. Then just practice for something I don't have time to compete in.
Should be better barrel life.
There are some higher bc 7s. But I was going to start with 180s.
Also if I get there, a 190 @ 2550 will out preform your 153 doing 2700 and trace and splash should be easier to see. Recoil will definitely be a factor though!
