7mm-08 Rem users I have some questions

I also have to say go for it. I used a 280 before I switched to the 7/08 and have carried mine for elk and moose and never felt undergunned. Would I own another, probably not cause I am never going to sell this one. I plan to rebarrel it if I ever shoot it out. In fact I have sold all my other bolt guns and use the 7/08 exclusively now. I also use the 140 grain accubond. I like the nosler ballistic tip for deer cause it shoots less than 1/2 moa in my gun but I prefer the accubond for the big stuff. I have owned, hunted with and shot just about everything from 22 hornet to 45/70 and have no problem recommending the 7/08

I own a stevens 200 and a BLR, both in 7OH8.
They are not too far behind the heels of the 7Mag, and drop deer/moose if you do your part.

I've been using a Remington Model 700 in 7mm-08 since the mid 1980 when it was first introduced as a standard chambering.
1-Are you happy with the caliber?
Absolutely: Yes
2-Would you own another one?
Yes
3-Would you recomend it as a good all around choice?
Yes,, it is probably the ideal all around choice for anything east of the Rockies.4-Have you ever felt undergunned?
Never.
5-I love my .270 but feel the 7mm-08 will do the same stuff in a shorter, lighter, and with less recoil am I right in assuming this?
Most likely. There are also a ton of more bullet choices in 7mm than .270 if you are into reloading.
6-I have always liked the higher velocity cartridges as I have always got bang flop performance but I have a feeling that the 7mm-08 will keep up just fine. Will I really notice the difference in velocity loss in the field? I mean a bullet to the boiler room should do the same thing even if it's a few fps slower
The BC of the 7mm bullets are generally higher than comparable bullets in .270 or .30,, so there are other factors involved than muzzle velocity.
7-It will become my primary deer rifle and a backup elk moose rifle with a good bullet and resonable range (400yds and closer) would you feel comfortable using a 7mm-08?
Yes, that's what I use if for,, and have been quite pleased for over 20 years.

I shoot a 700 mountain LSS in 7/08.....and it is my hands-down favorite rifle. Silverado helped me work up a load that is scary accurate, and can be used for everything from yotes to moose (140 gr. TSX around 2800 FPS)
No complaints whatsoever...and yes: I am comfortable with the cartridge for moose. Broadside out to 450 yards, I won't hesitate

What Supercub mentioned about the Model 7's: I don't own one, but I've handled a few and think they're about one of the slickest little rifles ever designed! Real nifty. I'm taller than average, longer arms (31 1/2" bow pull) and found the little Model 7 no problem to shoulder and shoot fast. If they're a tad short, add a thicker recoil pad!

You can thank boydds for srewing that sweet deal up. used to be able to have them shipped to your door because the price was under 100.00 They have now increased above 100.00 and we're all outta luck. That is if the price is the same as this spring.

I've taken several blacks with my 7-08, but no grizz...however, if you are comfortable carrying a .308 in that country, you shouldn't think twice about the 7mm cousin.....after all, the 7-08 does everything a .308 can do...it just does it better

I would have to agree with the others on the 7mm 08. I have one in a Remington 700 BDL with a stainless Remington Mountain Rifle light contour 22" barrel. Low recoil and comfortable to shoot. I only use Remington factory loads and have just about everything to reload except powder measure and scale.
I also like the 7 X 57 round and have a Ruger No1, Custom built commercial Mauser, Brno 21H, and about 18 or 20 military Mausers.
Got hooked on them years ago and never looked back.

Have one in an older Sako A11 with a 20 5/8" barrel and a brown synthetic stock, the only time I don't use it is when my wife is out hunting with me and I can't pry it from her hands.
I cannot imagine feeling undergunned, maybe wouldn't use it on Grizzlies but everything else without a second guess, you will not be dissapointed if you go 7-08!
