7mm-08

The 7mm08 is a great round.

I call this the magic 7 kills everything i have ever fired it at. I love this cartridge and its a shooters dream next to no recoil and accurate as hell. Its my favorite hunting round bar none.

Have a Savage 7mm08 LEVER ACTION.....with handloads, will shoot under 1 inch at 100 yds with 115sierra, 139 hornadys 140 sierra, and 175 gr.Hornadys...

Would highly reccomend this caliber and with lite bullets there is very little recoil
and shooting game at distances, is only limited by the shooters abilities........no doubt in a good bolt action, under one inch/100yds could be the norm.......it certainly isn't with my 30/30 94 Win.....

hs4570...........your mileage may vary

 You lucky so and so...Is that a model 99? If it is, I'm drooling. Anyways, I have a Ruger Compact in 7mm-08. My daughter and her husband both shoot 7-08's. Very accurate, mild recoil, and just all around a great choice. IMHO I'd pick it over the 30-06 just on recoil alone.

30-30 is an ok rifle, I carry one around in the saddle wherever I go riding in the back country, but only because bolt actions and semis have too many sticky-outie bits. My '94 is uncomfortable to fire - factory stock is way too short and I don't dare get my trigger hand thumb over top of the stock or I'll poke an eye out. There is also the issue of unloading a lever which I find potentially more unsafe - and a hassle - than a bolt gun.

Go with a 7-08, or any of a dozen great calibers in bolt action. I also like .308 because there are dozens of great factory loads including some cheap stuff (Surplus) for a day of can whacking.

Got a Remington Classic a while back, testing loads and here are the results from Varget powder and Nosler 120gr BT. 5 rounds at 100yds. I LIKE IT!:dancingbanana:
